Buying and Installing Rust

Buying Rust

Rust is available for purchase on the Steam platform. Before you can play, you'll need to buy the game and install it on your computer.

System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 11 64bit
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600
  • Memory: 12 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 470, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, Intel® Arc™ A580
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 45 GB available space

ADDITIONAL NOTES: SSD is highly recommended or expect longer than average load times.

  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 6600XT, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, Intel Arc B580
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 45 GB available space

ADDITIONAL NOTES: SSD Required.

Important Note: Rust is currently available for Windows and macOS. The game is not natively supported on Linux at this time.

Where to Buy

Rust is available exclusively through Steam:

  1. Visit the Steam store page for Rust
  2. Click "Add to Cart" or "Buy Now"
  3. Complete your purchase through Steam
  4. The game will be added to your Steam library

You can also add Rust to your wishlist to be notified of sales and updates.

Installing Rust

Once you've purchased Rust, installation is straightforward through the Steam client.

Installation Steps

  1. Open your Steam client and log into your account
  2. Navigate to your Library
  3. Find Rust in your game list
  4. Click on Rust to open its library page
  5. Click the "Install" button
  6. Choose your installation location
  7. Click "Next" to begin the download and installation

First Launch

After installation completes:

  1. Click "Play" from your Steam library
  2. Rust will perform a first-time setup
  3. The game may need to install additional prerequisites like DirectX
  4. Once setup is complete, the game will launch to the main menu

Verifying Game Files

If you experience issues after installation, you can verify your game files:

  1. Right-click on Rust in your Steam library
  2. Select "Properties"
  3. Go to the "Installed Files" tab
  4. Click "Verify integrity of game files"
  5. Steam will check and repair any corrupted or missing files
