Clothing Slots
Clothing Slots
Every wearable item in Rust occupies one or more equipment slots. Head, Chest and Legs each have two layers — a clothing layer worn underneath and an armor layer on top. Hands and Feet only accept a single item. Full-body suits replace everything.
Slot Model
| Slot | Layers | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Head | 2 | L1: hats, bandanas — L2: helmets, face masks |
| Chest | 2 | L1: shirts, hoodies — L2: jackets, plate carriers |
| Legs | 2 | L1: pants, shorts — L2: kilts, plate legs |
| Hands | 1 | Gloves only |
| Feet | 1 | Boots only |
| Full Body | all | Replaces every slot |
How Layering Works
On Head, Chest, and Legs you can stack two items — one per layer:
Bandana Mask (Head L1) +
Wolf Headdress (Head L2) — bandana underneath, wolf headdress on top
Hoodie (Chest L1) +
Road Sign Jacket (Chest L2) — hoodie underneath, road sign jacket on top
Pants (Legs L1) +
Road Sign Kilt (Legs L2) — pants underneath, kilt on top
Both items contribute their protection stats. Layer 1 gives comfort/cold resistance, Layer 2 gives projectile/melee protection.
Dual-Layer Items
Some items occupy both layers of a slot, meaning you can't wear anything else there:
Metal Facemask — Head L1 + L2 (no bandana underneath)
Coffee Can Helmet — Head L1 + L2
Heavy Plate Jacket — Chest L1 + L2 (no shirt underneath)
Heavy Plate Pants — Legs L1 + L2
Snow Jacket — Chest L1 + L2
Multi-Slot Items
These items span multiple body slots at once:
Bone Armor — Chest L1+L2, Legs L1+L2, Hands, Feet (covers almost everything)
Bunny Onesie — Chest L1+L2, Legs L1+L2
Wetsuit — Chest L1 + Legs L1 (leaves L2 armor slots open)
Chicken Costume — Chest L2 + Legs L2 (can still wear clothing underneath)
Full Body
Full-body suits occupy every slot. Nothing else can be worn with them.
Hazmat Suit — full radiation protection, most common full-body
Arctic Suit — full cold protection
